Monica Dolan is a British/Irish citizen who was born in Middlesbrough and brought up in Woking. She trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and has been working as an actress for over twenty years. In 2012 she won a BAFTA for her role as Rosemary West in the TV drama Appropriate Adult, and is otherwise best known for Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa, W1A, The Falling, The Arbor and Eye in the Sky. She has done extensive theatre work with the Royal Court Theatre, the National Theatre, the RSC, Shared Experience and Out of Joint.
Monica co-wrote Underbelly, which won the London New Plays Festival in 1998, and is currently developing a four-part historical drama for television with Trevor Bentham and Snowed-In Productions. She won The Stage Edinburgh Award 2017 for Outstanding Performance in The B*easts at the Festival Fringe.
She lives in Hammersmith.
